Printing Education at Napier College

'Napier came to life in 1964 and one of the large sections of the University was the printing department, which covered in these days about three floors. It had various sizes of printing case rooms and what I mean by that is where they set the type. They had linotype and monotype casters as well. They could send the chases of type up and down the floors, these were very heavy, in dumb waiters. They also had a large bindery which was on C floor. Over the various periods of time the various case rooms changed as technology changed and the area became more condensed. And basically you had in the whole of A Level at Merchiston plus a few teaching rooms on B Level'.
