Lindsay & Co
Lindsays were letterpress printers located in Blackfriars Street, Edinburgh. The firm was established in 1850 and operated out of a converted church. Among their clients were W. Green the Law Publisher; the firm composed and printed the Scots Law Times from 1948 to 2000.
Lindsay’s also printed the Session Cases, which reported legal matters in Scotland. The firm took over the Stanley Press and Edinburgh City Printers and moved to the old Rank Hovis building in Orwell Terrace just off Dalry Road, adjoining St Bride's Church.
In 1988 the firm amalgamated with MacDonalds (and later Pindar of Scarborough) moving out to Loanhead and becoming MacDonald Lindsay Pindar. MacDonald Lindsay Pindar composed and printed the ESPC Houses for Sale in Edinburgh and area and later the GSPC for houses in Glasgow and area. In 2000 Pindar closed MacDonald Lindsay Pindar after the loss of its property newspaper work to D C Thomson, Dundee.
