'This is a small individual book press. It can take small volumes of paper to be pressed or books. There is a screw mechanism, which is probably about 8 inches so it will not take more than a 6 inch width book. You are also constrained by the width of the arches. This is a very, very conventional book press. This usually stands on a bookbinder’s table; there are also ones that can use a horizontal fashion and these are used for pressing books for gilding. There are various sizes and widths of these presses; but all have the screw mechanism and this is for opening and closing and putting pressure on anything underneath'.
