Social Welfare Provisions

Social welfare provisions provided a central role in workers’ lives.  Most employees lived and worked around the printing firms and relied on their employers for their social lives.  Employers provided annual dinners, recreational facilities including gala days and the annual trip or wayzgoose, which was the highlight of the working calendar for many print employees and an expected perk of working within the industry.
