The year is 1962 and David Nicol, journeymen bookbinder is finishing a ledger.  David served his apprenticeship at Andrew Whytes where he worked for 25 years.  He left in 1960 to join Hunter and Foulis and in 1962 he went to work at MacNiven and Cameron.  He is a member of the National Union of Printing, Bookbinding and Paper Workers, and is Father of the Chapel.  He works a 40 hour week, for which he receives £11. 13s and is entitled to two weeks paid holiday.
